Transforming Anxiety and Despair About Our World
We are experiencing unprecedented change in the world as a result of climate change, the pandemic, political divisions, and technology. Change of this scale shakes our foundation, and interrupts the stories that our lives rest upon. Fear, anxiety, anger, grief or other expressions of distress are natural and normal. How we learn to respond to these emotions is the key to not drowning in them. Human nature is often to move away from discomfort. Yet this can lead to shutting ourselves off, and abandoning ourselves when we most need care and compassion.
I offer you the support to build your capacity to turn towards the pain or distress, to grieve, and to find new strengths, resilience, and renewed purpose. Depending on your inclination, this process may include (but is not limited to) grounding, gratitude practice, bearing witness, resource building, connecting to nature, connecting to community, movement & embodied practices, ritual, meditation, self-compassion, self care, spiritual care, taking action, and reimagining our stories. We are not alone. The possibilities and our potential for healing ourselves and our planet are boundless.
